Lately, I have been hitting up the theater a bit more and there have been ad spots promoting short runs of classic films. When I saw one was The Big Lebowski I thought, “Wow I would like to see that again.”
I have a history with this film. I worked at a movie theater when it first came out. Any time I had a break I would sneak in and watch it. One of the other employees and I thought it would be hilarious to dust off the NC-17 and put Logjammin’ on the marquee out front.
Then when I started college my friend and I would watch a little before class and when we got back.
So I bought a ticket last Wednesday and watched it. It was great. There was a tangible buzz with all the other fans. We all laughed at the same times, and very few times someone would say the lines before the actors. But it didn’t upset me at all.
When I came home my wife asked how was it. I thought for a second and said, “It was like a love note from Cinemark.”
