My blog would be a total failure if I didn’t mention my love of Star Wars.
Star Wars has been a huge part of my life since before I had memories. Most of my clothes have Star Wars on them. My cubical at work is decorated with Star Wars figurines. I have a framed picture of a Mon Calamari (it’s not Admiral Ackbar, just one of his crew) that says “If I were any better, I would be twins.” I had a Star Wars-a-thon on my tumblr.
Star Wars and I share the same initials.
Coincidence? I don’t think so.
I have a Star Wars hoodie that I wear on any day below 70 degrees. This will always get someone asking the question what do you think about the new movies coming out?
Look, the originals defined my childhood. I really liked the prequels despite Jar Jar Binks and Anakin’s flat acting. Disney has done a great job with movies. Their ventures with Marvel and the Muppets have been great and I have no reason to doubt that the new movies will be nothing less than amazing.
Plus J.J Abrams did a phenomenal job with Star Trek. A franchise that previously was barely tolerable to me.
How much better can he do with Star Wars?
I honestly don’t think about it too much, I am just glad they are making new Star Wars movies. In fact, I intentionally keep away from rumor sites so I can have a fresh take on the movie when it comes out.
I have yet to introduce my son to Star Wars for fear that he might not be able to watch the movie all the way through and would have to be banished from my house. On the first date with my wife, we went to see Revenge of the Sith and she talked through the whole movie. It almost didn’t work out.
A long time ago and not so far away (as a child), I would ask my mom over and over what if they made another Star Wars movie? One time she yelled at me that they wouldn’t. I believe you can wish things into reality and one wish I never gave up on was that there would be more Star Wars movies. That happened with the prequels and now it is set to happen again in 2015.
