Employee of the Month

Okay, it’s not really an employee of the month but it’s the quickest way to explain it and what I am feeling inside.

We have this thing at work called the Path to SUCCESS. Once a quarter a few people win or are told they meet all these characteristics that embody what we represent as a company. But there are prizes and $200 bucks and an exciting getaway at the end of the year.

I guess first I was going to play it off but internally I am still super excited.

What was even better was, I was given the nomination form that Hugh filled out and it was really touching. And a bunch of other people I work with told me they also nominated me. And I was told 2 people from the committee that votes on these things recognized my efforts and ability to work with their departments.

And not to brag (or sorry I am going to keep bragging…) but I work as an immigrant. I work my full-time job but also usually have a side-job going. Most days, I grab my Chipotle and come back to work to spend the next half of my lunch break learning more about coding on Treehouse.

So, being noticed for hard work and positivity is pretty exciting.

My wife was telling me how when we first started dating she admired my work ethic. I realized how important that is to not only me but how it also defined my dad and his dad too.

In essence, for me, this was a really big deal.
